// ABOUT US
Cotopaxi Film Association is a Polish non-profit organization established in 2008. We specialize in projects connecting audiovisual arts with education and development of emotional intelligence. Our mission is to popularize culture, educate in the field of social and emotional development, and promote social engagement and bonding within local communities. We work with schools, cultural institutions and social welfare centres, including those dedicated to people with disabilities. We also support other NGOs with tailor-made audiovisual tools – you can ask us to organize workshops, training programs or educational projects that fit your needs.// OUR METHODS
- Participatory Video (PV) – we are the only organization in Poland that specializes in this method. We teach every aspect of film-making, from equipment know-how to post-production, which enables the participants of our workshops to create their own videos, in which they share their perspective or ideas for change.
- VR and trigger videos – we use virtual reality and selected dramatized scenes that facilitate perspective-taking and provide a safe and engaging way to understand emotions and experiences of other people.
- Digital Storytelling (DS) – we facilitate in-group communication and integration through image and narration. Our participants learn how to work with sound and image to create their own digital stories.
- Out-of-Classroom Learning – with focus on active and creative experience. Our belief is that creativity and mindfulness can be practiced in any place. We go outside and explore the potential of natural landscape and cityscape: parks, libraries, museums, etc. This allows our participants to develop their social and emotional competences in real world and real-life situations.
// SOME OF OUR PROJECTS
- „Dom od środka” (‘House On The Inside’ ) – a series of Participatory Video (PV) workshops for people with intellectual disabilities and those experiencing mental illness or crisis.
- „Późne debiuty” (‘Late Debuts’) – a series of PV workshops for seniors that promote active lifestyle and inter-generational integration, with additional aim of remedying digital exclusion of elderly people.
- Szkoła Życzliwej Wyobraźni (School of Sympathetic Imagination) – an innovative program for the development of cognitive empathy for youths, teachers and adults. Its positive impact was confirmed by psychometric research conducted by University of Warsaw. The aim is to boost emotional intelligence, other-oriented thinking and perspective-taking through film, literature, case study, VR, etc.
